Rock Rapids, Iowa — A pretrial conference has been postponed yet again in the case of a Doon man facing a laundry list of charges after an April pursuit through southern Lyon County.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office says 23-year-old Julian Barrientos of Doon failed to pull over for a deputy in April 2017 and reached speeds in excess of 90 miles-per-hour while eluding the deputy. They say he almost struck two patrol cars and failed to stop for a stop sign. He is accused of pulling into a rural driveway and failing to comply with deputies, resulting in the deputies deploying their tasers.
He is charged with eluding, a class D felony; Operating While Intoxicated, Second Offense, an Aggravated Misdemeanor; and simple misdemeanor counts of:

- Passing too near an intersection

- Driving on the wrong side of a two-way highway

- Speeding (90 mph in a 55 mph zone)

- Careless driving

- Failure to obey a traffic control device

Barrientos filed a plea of “not guilty” on May 30th. His pretrial conference has been continued a number of times. The last date was to have been on Monday. He is scheduled at this point to appear in Lyon County District Court on Monday, November 13th. Court records indicate no new date has been set for the trial, which was originally to have been in August.
