Sioux Center, Iowa — This spring a reconstruction project of US Highway 75 through Sioux Center will begin and last two calendar years.
Sioux Center’s City Manager, Scott Wynja, says phase one of this two-year project will begin this spring, and the lowest bid was awarded to Godbersen-Smith Construction Company out of Ida Grove. This phase, Wynja says, will reconstruct from 20th Street South (by Pizza Hut) to 13th Street South (by Wal-Mart).
Wynja says that phases two and three will be done together and the open bid for them will be in October. These phases will be for 13th Street South to 12th Street North (by McDonald’s). He tells us some of the work that will be done.
According to Wynja, the corridor will be opened as much as possible for the public.
He tells us the purpose of the reconstruction is to make it easier to turn from Highway 75.
Wynja says there are three priorities when it comes to this project. The first, he tells us, is safety.
He says the second priority is function.
And the third priority, he says, is that it looks good.
Wynja adds that Highway 75 needs this attention as it has some pretty bad potholes right now.
