Sutherland, Iowa — It’s the annual Labor Day Celebration in Sutherland this weekend.
On Saturday, you can eat breakfast at the Community Center, served by the American Legion from 7 until 9 a.m. At 8, it’s the 5K Run and Walk starting at the Church of Christ. That evening, you can enjoy a Willoway meal and some free entertainment from 5 to 7, and the Saturday Street Dance will feature the band “ROADHARD”, and that starts at 9.
Sunday’s activities start with a church service in City Park at 10. You are asked to bring your own lawn chairs. From 11 to noon it’s the registration for the Salute Tractor Ride at First and Pine Streets. There will be a Masonic Lodge Lunch from 10:30 — 12:30. The Cruise-in Car Show starts at 11 and the Burnouts start at 1. The Car Cruise and Fun Run starts at 3. The Ham and Beef Supper is from 4:30 to 7 at Bethel Lutheran Church. The Sunday Street Dance features the Johnny Holm Band and starts at 9.
Monday is the big day with a Sausage & Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser for Noah’s Ark Day Care at the Church of Christ, a parade, games and bouncy gyms in the City Park after the parade, creamed turkey and biscuits at the Methodist Church, hot dogs and burgers served by the Masons at the City Park, the R.L. Johannsen Community Center One Year Anniversary Open House and Happy Hour, Volleyball, Bean Bag, and Horse Shoe Tournaments, the Willoway Open House, the Saddle Club Fun Day & Horse Show, Musical Entertainment in Park with Denny Nelson’s Country Show, the Library Open House, Kids Races, and Free Ice Cream Bars in the park.
