Sheldon, Iowa — The annual end-of-summer spectacular will be underway shortly in Sheldon. Sheldon Celebration Days are celebrated every year on Labor Day Weekend.
The festivities start on Thursday evening, August 31st with the Sheldon Community Theatre production of “See How They Run” at the Sheldon High School Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. You can also see it on Saturday night or Sunday afternoon at 2.
There are a number of activities going on this Saturday. Sheldon Chamber Director Shanelle Matus highlights a couple of them for us.
She says they will have what will probably be your first chance to see the new Crossroads Pavilion Event Center on Saturday too.
Also on Saturday are the Mini-Rod tractor pulls, a Free Outdoor Movie (They’ll be showing “Mary Poppins”). and the Junk-FM Band will play at the Eagles Club that night.
On Sunday evening, there’s a benefit for Mark Matthes. Matus tells us about it.
Also on Sunday, there’s a community worship service and Ice Cream Social at the City Park, or at First Reformed Church if it rains; and the Classic Car Cruise starting at 7 p.m. at Cook’s Cafe and Langer’s Bar and Grill.
Labor Day Monday’s events start with a Fly-In Pancake Breakfast and Aircraft Display at the Airport. But that’s not all, says Matus.
Also on Monday the Prairie Museum will be open, there will be Arts & Crafts in the Park, the Classic Car Show, the Veterans Opening Ceremony, the Prairie Arts Historical Park will be open, Hy-Vee will have their Health Mobile available, there will be inflatables, a mini Ferris wheel, mini train, and food booths in the park. Matus says another popular activity involves a cow and a grid.
Also on Monday, “A Cow and Corn” from 9 to 4, Build a Better World interactive games and crafts, a photo booth, a comic juggler, caricatures, and Mr. Twister’s balloon animals. Matus gives us some details on some other entertainment.
And Matus says for a limited time, the Chamber is still taking parade registrations.
