Work On Little Orabs Learning Center Nearing Completion

Sheldon, Iowa — The renovation of the building that will become Sheldon’s Little Orabs Learning Center is nearing completion, according to Sheldon Community Schools Superintendent Cory Myer.

Work on the $1.2 million project had been scheduled for completion by the end of 2021, but Myer says there have been some unforeseen issues that forced the completion date to be pushed back.

The Sheldon Community Schools preschool program is currently housed in the Children’s World facility, but will be moved to the Little Orabs Learning Center this coming fall. Myer says preschool registration for next school year will be held at the new facility later this month.

The new Little Orabs Learning Center will be located in the building that was the former home of the Fantasia coffee shop, which is located across Highway 18 from the Sheldon High School Athletic Complex. The school district purchased the building from Village Northwest Unlimited in the fall of 2020, with work on the project getting underway last summer.

In addition to the Little Orabs preschool, the District will be able to utilize part of the building as some much-needed shop space, with uses for some of the remaining space to be determined at a future date.
