Sioux County Entities Awarded FEMA Disaster Funding

Spencer, Iowa (KUOO) — Some Sioux County units of government and organizations will each receive a share of $34 million in the latest round of FEMA disaster-relief funding from the 2024 flood, as will the City and school district in Spencer.

The City of Rock Valley is receiving nearly $2 million to repair damage at the city’s library. The Rock Valley First Reformed Church is getting $370,000 for building repairs, and the Sioux County Conservation Board is receiving $164,000 to repair park buildings, roads, culverts, and trails.

The Spencer Community School District is receiving nearly $3.2 million for building repairs, including work at Johnson Elementary School. The city of Spencer is receiving a little more than $2.3 million for repairs at city parks and 17 wastewater lift stations.
