Iowa (RI) — Farmers finally got more than a single day in the field last week and made significant harvest progress as conditions dried out across Iowa.
The latest USDA crop report shows there were 5.5 days suitable for fieldwork during the reporting period.
Soybean harvest made the biggest gain, jumping from 5% complete to 31% complete statewide. The crop is now 28 percentage points behind the five-year average, compared with 33 percentage points behind a week earlier.
Corn harvest also advanced, doubling from 7% complete to 14% complete. However, corn remains 20 percentage points behind average, compared with a 13-point gap the previous week.
