Washington, D.C. (RI) — Iowa Congresswoman Ashley Hinson says she’s frustrated after Senate Democrats blocked the Farm Bill last week over concerns about fraud-prevention measures in the SNAP program.
The Farm Bill passed the House earlier this year, and Hinson says she hoped to see it advance in the Senate.
Hinson says she hopes the Farm Bill will move forward when the Senate returns from its fall recess.
Hinson says efforts to reduce fraud in SNAP are important to maintaining long-term stability in government programs.
Hinson is running for the U.S. Senate, and her Democrat opponent Josh Turek has also criticized Senate Democrats for failing to pass the Farm Bill, saying a new permanent bill is long overdue.
