Northwest Iowa (Sioux County Radio) — Drivers traveling between the Sioux Center area and the Le Mars area will soon need to plan for a detour as a portion of U.S. Highway 75 is scheduled to fully close later this month for road construction work.

According to the Iowa Department of Transportation, U.S. 75 will be closed in both directions beginning Tuesday, June 17th, between Iowa Highway 60 north of Le Mars and Iowa Highway 10 north of Maurice.

The closure is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. June 17th and continue through approximately 6 p.m. on June 30th.

Officials say the closure is needed for road construction work in the area.

Detour Route

The official Iowa DOT detour for Highway 75 will direct southbound traffic east on Highway 10 at the Million Dollar Corner north of Maurice, through Orange City and Alton, and then southwest on Highway 60 to the Highways 75 and 60 interchange north of Le Mars.

Drivers Encouraged To Plan Ahead

The closure is expected to impact commuters, commercial traffic, and other travelers regularly using the U.S. 75 corridor.

Motorists are encouraged to allow extra travel time and follow posted detour signs during the construction period.

The completion schedule is weather-permitting.
