Wet Conditions Keep Planting Behind Last Year’s Pace

Statewide Iowa (RI) — Weather once again kept farmers from getting into the fields to plant last week.

The USDA weekly report says there were only three days suitable for fieldwork last week.

The amount of corn planted went from one percent to two percent, which is 14 percent behind the amount already planted by this time in 2025.

There were soybeans reported in the ground for the first time this week, but the one percent is behind the ten percent that had already been planted at this time last year.
