(KIWA Staff Photo)Rock Rapids and Iowa City, Iowa (Sioux County Radio) — Three Iowa Hawkeye football players, including former Central Lyon/George-Little Rock standout Zach Lutmer, have been named preseason All-Americans by Sporting News.
Lutmer, a Lott IMPACT Trophy candidate entering his fourth year with the Hawkeyes, was selected to the Sporting News preseason second team. The Lott Trophy honors the nation’s top defensive player based on both performance and personal character.
Center Kade Pieper, a Remington Trophy candidate for the nation’s top center, earned first-team preseason honors. Tight end DJ Vonnahme joined Lutmer on the second team.
Iowa opens the season September 5th, hosting Northern Illinois.
