Unity’s Jacki Hoogland to Run Track at Northwestern

hooglandOrange City, Iowa —Jacki Hoogland of Unity Christian has signed a letter of intent to continue her track and field and cross country careers at Northwestern College next year.

Hoogland is a 5’9” distance runner who has earned six letters competing for the Unity Christian track and field and cross country teams heading into her final track season. Hoogland was part of a Knights’ cross country team that qualified for state all four years, winning the state title twice, finishing second as a junior and fourth as a senior. She earned all-conference honors all four years. In track, Hoogland was part of a 4×800 relay that finished fourth at state as a sophomore. She also finished 13th at state in the 1500m that same year. Hoogland has personal bests of 2:26 in the 800m, 5:10 in the 1500m and 15:45 in the 4K.

An honor roll student, Hoogland plans to major in psychology/pre-occupational therapy at Northwestern. She is the daughter of Alvin and Verla.

“We are thrilled that Jacki will be competing for both our track and field and cross country teams next year,” commented head coach Scott Bahrke. “She is a very talented distance runner who will keep getting better. Jacki will be very competitive in the GPAC and will push everyone around her to improve.”
