Call Of Vehicle Fire Was Actually Accident

Sheldon, Iowa — A Sheldon teen was taken to the hospital after an accident near Sheldon on Saturday, November 9, 2019.

The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 8:55 p.m., 16-year-old Zachery Broesder of Sheldon was driving a 2001 Dodge pickup eastbound on 300th Street, two miles north and a little east of Sheldon’s northwest corner.

They report that as Broesder was driving, he approached a hill with limited visibility, and realized he was too close to the south ditch, and overcorrected. The pickup entered north ditch, struck a box culvert, and overturned.

The Sheldon Community Ambulance Team took Broesder to Sanford Sheldon Hospital.

Broesder’s Dodge pickup was totaled in the accident. The box culvert, owned by O’Brien County, sustained $1000 in damages.

Sheldon, Iowa — Sheldon emergency crews were called to an accident scene northwest of Sheldon on Saturday evening.

According to the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office, the call at 3010 McKinley Avenue (the Sioux/O’Brien county line road) came in at 8:50 p.m. They say the initial call was for a pickup on fire. But they tell us that when the officer arrived on the scene, there was a pickup on its roof near a culvert. The deputy requested a tow truck and an ambulance to respond to the scene.

The Sheldon Fire Company, Sheldon Community Ambulance Team, and the Sheldon Emergency Management Agency were paged.

At this time, officials at the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office are unable to provide further details. The incident remains under investigation.
