Alton, Iowa — A Fridley, Minnesota woman was taken to the hospital after striking a guardrail near Alton Saturday morning (February 10th).
According to Sioux County authorities, the crash happened shortly before 9:00 Saturday morning when a 2016 Nissan Rogue, driven by 34-year old Maria Ledesma, of Fridley, was southbound on Highway 60 just south of Alton when she lost control of the vehicle and struck an Iowa Department of Transportation bridge guardrail.
Deputies say Ledesma was taken to the Orange City Hospital by the Alton Ambulance for treatment of her injuries.
Authorities estimated the damage to Lesesma’s Nissan at about $15-thousand, while damage to the guardrail is estimated at approximately $15-hundred.
Deputies say Ledesma was cited for Failure to Maintain Control.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Alton Fire Department, Alton Ambulance, and the Orange City Police Department.
