Hawarden, Iowa — A freak accident caused damage to a South Dakota man’s semi and an Ireton teen’s pickup on Thursday, November 12th near Hawarden.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 7:51 am on Thursday, 37-year-old Brian Jensen of Baltic, SD was driving a 1998 Peterbilt semi-tractor pulling a grain trailer was eastbound on Highway 10, two miles east of Hawarden. Fifteen-year-old Russell Jacob of Ireton was driving a 1996 Ford F-150 westbound on Highway 10. According to the report, as the two met, a set of dual wheels dislodged from the rear driver’s side of the Peterbilt and struck Jacob.
The Peterbilt and Ford each received $4000 damage.
No injuries were reported.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Hawarden Police Department, Iowa Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Enforcement, Hawarden Fire Department and Hawarden Ambulance.
