Fiery Crash Reported Near Orange City

Maurice, Iowa — A fiery crash was reported on Monday between Orange City and Maurice.

According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, about 2:45 on Monday, 26-year-old Marisela Jose, of Hospers was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Aveo southbound on Hickory Avenue, two miles west of Orange City, when she lost control of the vehicle, which entered the east ditch and rolled. It caught fire but Jose was able to exit the vehicle.

Jose reported minor injuries but declined further medical attention.

The Chevrolet sustained approximately $8,000 in damage in the accident and fire.

Jose was cited on a charge of operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license and failure to maintain control.

The sheriff’s office reports that the Orange City Ambulance Squad and Maurice Fire Department assisted them at the scene.
