Ongoing Investigation Leads To Felony Arrest Of Hospers Man

Hospers, Iowa — A Hospers man is jailed in Sioux County on a pair of felony charges following the execution of a search warrant at his Hospers residence.

Sioux County authorities say 42-year-old Robert Hansen was arrested late Tuesday morning as the result of a search warrant executed at his residence after deputies received information that a firearm was being kept at his residence. Authorities say Hansen is a convicted felon prohibited from owning or possessing any firearms.

According to deputies, they discovered an AR-15 rifle that was hidden beneath sheetrock in a wall inside Hansen’s residence.

According to deputies, the case is also the result of a nearly two-year-long ongoing investigation in which Hansen became a suspect in possessing five pounds of methamphetamine that was allegedly discovered during a search warrant of a former Orange City business, Orange City Seamless Gutters.

According to court records, Hansen was charged with being felon in possession of a firearm, a Class D Felony and drug trafficking (possession of a controlled substance with intent of distributing), a Class B Felony.

The case remains under investigation.

Online Sioux County Jail Records indicate that, as of mid-day Thursday, Hansen was being held in the Sioux County Jail in lieu of a $25,000 bond.
