Primghar Accident Causes Over $1-Million In Damage

accident wordPrimghar, Iowa — More than $1-million dollars damage is reported following a single vehicle accident Tuesday evening east of Primghar.

According to the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened when a 2012 Freightliner tractor-trailer rig, driven by 36-year old Joshauwa Wiley of Kansas City, Missouri, was eastbound on 380th Street and attempted a right turn, to go south on Starling Avenue.  Deputies say Wiley apparently turned too sharp and entered the ditch, causing the trailer to overturn, and the tractor to jackknife.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the semi was hauling four computerized power units for windmill turbines at the time of the crash.  Deputies say those power units, which are valued at a total of more than $1-million, were destroyed in the accident.  Wiley’s tractor-trailer rig sustained an estimated $72,469 damage, as well.

Wiley escaped injury in the crash, and was not ticketed, according to the report.
