(KIWA Staff Photo)Sioux Center, Iowa — A Sioux Center teen has been arrested on a felony theft charge after an incident in Sioux Center.
A criminal complaint filed by the Sioux Center Police Department in district court accuses 18-year-old Mainor Hernandez Morgado of Sioux Center of stealing merchandise from the Sioux Center Walmart. He was arrested on Thursday.
In his statement, the officer says that asset protection at Walmart Supercenter observed Hernandez Morgado removing multiple items from the store without paying. Store officials say they additionally observed that Hernandez Morgado returned several items he had not paid for, keeping the money for the returned items. The report alleges this happened multiple times. The officer says Hernandez Morgado allegedly made admissions about these actions.
The value of the items exceeded $1500 but was less than $10,000.
Hernandez Morgado was charged with second-degree theft, a class D felony. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison.
According to the most current information available at the time of posting, no court dates had yet been set in the case.
At last report, Hernandez Morgado remained in the Sioux County Jail in Orange City. At that time, no bond had been set.
