Rock Valley Man Faces Felony Drug Charge After Sheldon Traffic Stop

Sheldon, Iowa — A Rock Valley man has been arrested on drug charges after a traffic stop in Sheldon.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the O’Brien County Clerk of Court’s Office by the Sheldon Police Department, 26-year-old Tyler DeBruin of Rock Valley is accused of possession of drugs with the intent to deliver. He was arrested on Monday, June 26th.

In his statement, the officer states DeBruin was stopped for an equipment violation. The officer says that while talking with him, the odor of marijuana was observed. Two THC pens were found in DeBruin’s pocket. The officer says that in the vehicle were five more THC vape pens, five grams of THC wax, a scale, and bags. He says there was also an open container of alcohol. The Sheldon Police officer says DeBruin also had two Adderall pills in his pocket.

DeBruin was charged with possession with intent to deliver, a class D felony, and misdemeanor counts of possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of a prescription drug.

He faces a court appearance on Tuesday, July 18th.

DeBruin was released the day after he was arrested.
