Rollover Accident Leads To OWI Arrest

Alton, Iowa — A one-vehicle rollover accident late Sunday morning near Alton has led to the arrest of a Sheldon man.

According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, the mishap took place around 11:25 Sunday morning when a 2000 Ford Ranger pickup, driven by 33-year-old Brenton Delaney, of Sheldon, was southbound on Highway 60, one-half mile south of Alton when he lost control of the vehicle, entered the west ditch and rolled.

Deputies say Delaney was transported by the Alton Ambulance to Orange City Area Health for treatment of minor injuries.

The Ford sustained approximately $8,000 in damage, according to the accident report.

Upon further investigation, deputies say they suspected that Delaney was under the influence of alcohol. After his release from medical treatment, Delaney was transported to the Sioux County Jail where he was charged with 2nd Offense OWI and failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Alton Fire Department and Alton Ambulance.
