May City, Iowa — A rural Hartley man is dead after the tractor he was driving rolled over and pinned him underneath late Monday morning.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office says May City and Melvin rescue teams responded to the scene, which was in the 6500 mile of 240th Street, southwest of May City, at 11:45 Monday morning.
Deputies say it appears that 77-year-old Kenneth Boernsen was transporting a section of an old loader with his loader bucket raised, when his tractor tipped over into the ditch, and rolled over on top of him. When deputies and rescue crews arrived on the scene they found Boernsen under the tractor in the north ditch. Authorities say Boernsen was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by rescue crews from May City and Melvin, as well as by the Sibley Ambulance.
