Search Ends, Schiebout Arrested

Sioux Center, Iowa — The search for a Sioux Center woman came to an end early Sunday with her arrest on an outstanding warrant for Failure To Appear.

Sioux County authorities say they arrested Kami Jo Schiebout in the wee hours of Sunday morning at a rural Sioux Center residence.

Deputies say the arrest stemmed from an incident that began on Friday afternoon, July 27th, shortly before 4:00 p.m.  According to authorities, a person who knew there was an active arrest warrant for Schiebout saw her at The Ridge Golf Course in Sioux Center and reported her whereabouts to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies say when responding officers arrived at the golf course, Schiebout fled into a nearby cornfield and was not located. In the following weeks, the Sheriff’s Office says they received several tips on Schiebout’s whereabouts, but officers were unable to locate her.

Late Saturday evening, August 18th, the Sheriff’s Office says they received a tip concerning Schiebout’s current location. Deputies from the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office obtained a search warrant for a residence at 2767 400th Street, which is one mile west of Sioux Center. Upon searching the residence, officers say they located Schiebout inside the residence.

Sioux County Jail officials say the Failure to Appear warrant was in connection with an earlier felony drug case.

Authorities report Schiebout was arrested without incident and was transported to the Sioux County Jail where she was booked. Online jail records indicate that, as of mid-morning Monday, Schiebout was still being held in the Sioux County Jail, in lieu of a $10-thousand cash bond.
