Sheldon, Iowa — A Sheldon couple has been arrested on felony charges after a search warrant was carried out in their Sheldon home.
According to records from the O’Brien County Clerk of Court, 46-year-old Jill Siemonsma and 62-year-old Perry Siemonsma, both of Sheldon, are facing charges following a Sheldon Police Department investigation. The pair was allegedly found in possession of various illegal drugs, drug-related equipment, and firearms. They were arrested on Monday.
Both Jill and Perry Siemonsma were charged with third or subsequent possession of a controlled substance and drug tax stamp violations, which are class D felonies. Perry is also charged with two felony counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, which are also class D felonies. For each felony count on which they are convicted, they could face up to five years in prison.
Jill Siemonsma also faces a misdemeanor charge of obstruction of prosecution, as the officer says she attempted to throw out a bowl with marijuana in it.
In addition to his felony charge of third or subsequent offense possession of a controlled substance, Perry Siemonsma also faces a misdemeanor count of second offense possession of a controlled substance.
The pair face a preliminary hearing on May 11th.
They were booked into the O’Brien County Jail in Primghar and were released the next day after posting bond.
