Sheldon, Iowa — A Terril, Iowa man has been arrested on felony drug charges after a traffic stop in Sheldon.
According to a criminal complaint filed with the O’Brien County Clerk of Court’s Office by the Sheldon Police Department, 40-year-old Santos Beal of Terril is accused of controlled substance possession for the third or subsequent time. He was arrested on Sunday.
The complaint states that the officer initiated a traffic stop and found Beal to be driving while barred from driving. The officer says that during a search of the vehicle, a cigarette box with a rubber tube was allegedly found. The officer says that the item was field tested and was positive for methamphetamine.
Beal was charged with possession of a controlled substance, third or subsequent offense, a class D felony, as well as misdemeanor charges of driving while barred, driving under suspension, and possession of drug paraphernalia. If convicted, Beal could face up to five years in prison.
He faces a preliminary hearing on February 20th.
