Hartley, Iowa — The Iowa State Patrol has just released information on an accident after which three people from Hartley were taken to area hospitals.
The Patrol reports that about 12:30 p.m. on Friday, 80-year-old Margo Harms of Hartley was driving a 2013 Ford SUV eastbound on 300th Street, two miles north of the west side of Hartley. Fifty-one-year-old Troy Remmers of Hartley was southbound on Vine Avenue (or M12) in a 2007 Chevy.
The report says that Harms stopped for the stop sign at the intersection of 300th and County Road M12. It says she checked for traffic and failed to see Remmers approaching. The Harms SUV entered the intersection and was struck in the driver’s side by the front of Remmers’ Chevy.
The Sanborn Ambulance took Harms and a passenger, 81-year-old Rodney Harms to the Spencer Hospital. The Hartley Ambulance took Remmers to Sanford Sheldon Hospital.
Harms’ Ford SUV sustained $15,000 in damages, and Remmers’ Chevy sustained $6000 in damages.
The report says Harms was charged with a stop sign violation.
The Iowa State Patrol reports that members of the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office, Hartley Fire and Rescue Departments, The Hartley Ambulance Squad, The Sanborn Ambulance Squad, and Larson’s Towing of Hartley assisted at the scene.
