Woman Taken To Sioux Falls Hospital With Life-Threatening Injuries After Accident

Larchwood, Iowa — A woman was taken to a Sioux Falls hospital after she received life-threatening injuries in an accident near Larchwood in the early hours of Monday, April 5th.

According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, about 3:35 a.m., the Lyon County Communications Center received a 911 call of a single-vehicle accident near the intersection of Highway 9 and Beech Avenue (County Road K12) west of Larchwood. If you’re headed westbound on 9, that’s the last intersection before the road curves due north and heads toward Grand Falls Casino and the state line.

The sheriff’s office says a 37-year old woman from Sioux Falls was the driver and only passenger in the vehicle.

They tell us she was transported to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Her injuries were described as life-threatening.

The report says the accident is still under investigation and the name of the driver is being withheld pending family notification. The sheriff’s office tells us Larchwood EMS, the Larchwood Fire Department, MedStar, and Erwin’s Towing assisted with the response to the accident.
