Two Taken To Hospital After Sioux Center Accident

Sioux Center, Iowa — A Hull woman and a Sioux Center woman were taken to the hospital after an accident in Sioux Center on Monday, November 11, 2019.

The Sioux Center Police Department reports that about 2:20 p.m., 68-year-old Susan Roetman of Hull was driving a 2017 small Ford bus backing southbound on Brommer Sanitation’s lot, in Sioux Center. According to the report a 2004 Pontiac was allegedly parked illegally on Fourth Street Northwest, behind the driveway to the lot.

The report says that Roetman backed the bus out of Brommer Sanitation’s lot and backed into the occupied but parked Pontiac. The officer says that the occupants were waiting for someone to come out of the business.

The Sioux Center Ambulance took a passenger in the bus driven by Roetman, 27-year-old Irma Castro of Hull; and a person sitting in the driver’s seat of the Pontiac, 67-year-old Pamela Sechler of Sioux Center both to the Sioux Center Health Hospital.

The Roetman bus sustained about $100 in damages, and the Pontiac sustained about $2000 in damages, according to the report.

Roetman was charged with unsafe backing.
