Sheldon Native Releases Her First Book

Sheldon, Iowa — A Sheldon native and former Orab track star, has written a new book which was released last week.

Dr. Cindra Kamphoff, a professor at Minnesota State University in Mankato, has released the book entitled, Beyond Grit.  KIWA talked to Dr. Kamphoff, and she told us about her book.

She says the book, which is her first, took about a year to write.

Kamphoff said she’d always wanted to write a book, but her experience participating in the infamous 2013 Boston Marathon prompted her to get started.

You can find more information, or order Beyond Grit at www.beyondgrit.com.

Dr. Kamphoff is a 1994 graduate of Sheldon High School, where she ran track and captured a State Record in the Mile Run.  She earned her Bachelors and Masters Degrees at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, and obtained her PhD in Sports Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.  She now works as a Professor at Minnesota State University in Mankato.

Dr. Kamphoff is the daughter of former Sheldon residents Hank and Bev Schelling.
