Sheldon, Iowa — About a month ago we told you that Sheldon’s Dollar General store was planning to relocate to a new building that was planned for Highway 18 in Sheldon. Now, crews have begun demolition on the structures currently built on that land.
The real estate secured for the Dollar General project is located adjacent to Highway 18 and 4th Avenue, on the northwest corner of that intersection, and extends from 4th Avenue west to the lot that housed the old Rec Bowl location.
Missouri-based Glenwood Equities, LLC, purchased the property, and had hoped to begin demolition of the current buildings on the property within two weeks of closing. That plan apparently was pushed back, since demolition has only now begun. Once demolition is complete, construction will begin on the new building to house Dollar General.
Once construction of the new building is complete, Dollar General plans to relocate to their new location from their current store on 3rd Avenue downtown in Sheldon.
