Engineer: B-40 Taking Longer But Will Last A Long Time

(KIWA Staff Photo)

Hospers, Iowa (SiouxCountyRadio) — The Sioux County engineer says he knows people are eager for county road B40 to be open again, and he says county workers are doing what they can.

Engineer Joel Sikkema tells us the Hospers to K-64 part of B-40 remains closed while work continues on its concrete overlay.

He says this kind of work can take longer initially than some other paving work, but the B-40 overlay is expected to last 40 to 50 years based on the performance of other concrete roads.

No official re-opening date has been set.
