Washington, DC (KUOO) — The Federal Emergency Management Agency has announced that 13 projects in Iowa, including some in our area, will receive a combined $5.6 million in funding from flooding and severe weather in 2024.
In our area, Lyon County is getting nearly $653,000 to repair damage from severe weather. The Osceola County Secondary Roads Department is getting a little more than $178,000 to also manage public assistance grants stemming from severe weather and flooding.
A little further afield, the city of Cherokee is getting a little more than $331,000 for repairs to some pipe, along with an additional $210,000 for repairs and replacement of docks, equipment, park buildings, and picnic tables.
The Clay County Secondary Roads Department is getting nearly $102,000, and the city of Spencer is receiving nearly $574,000 to manage public assistance grants stemming from severe storms, flooding, straight-line winds, and tornadoes. Spencer Municipal Utilities was awarded a little more than $163,000 to manage public assistance grants.
