Sheldon, Iowa – Sheldon City Manager Sam Kooiker has submitted his letter of resignation to the Sheldon City Council.
In a special sessions at noon Friday that lasted all of twelve minutes, Kooiker related to the Council some of his memories of growing up in this area, and some of the Sheldon people who made an impression on him in his younger days. Kooiker then read his letter of resignation to the Council, which they then accepted in a unanimous vote. Kooiker’s resignation is to be effective August 3rd. Kooiker made no mention of his future plans during Friday’s meeting.
The Council then went on to unanimously appoint City Clerk Angela Beckman and Public Works Director Todd Uhl to share the City Manager’s duties until a permanent replacement for Kooiker can be found.
