Ashton, Iowa — The Ashton American Legion set out to wave 250 flags this past Sunday, which was Flag Day, for America’s 250th Birthday, which is coming up on July 4th.
Those involved with the effort tell us they were successful. There was a potluck meal, and some veterans received “Quilts of Valor”. Afterwards, people went outside. Dave Herbert of Sibley flew his drone and took a picture of the people waving their flags.
Honored with the Quilts of Valor were veterans Larry Verdoorn, Patrick DeVries, and John Boender.
