Northwest Iowa (RI) — Two men with careers centered in Sioux City will face off in Iowa’s Fourth Congressional District in the General Election.
Republican Chris McGowan, who leads the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce, cleared the GOP field after receiving President Trump’s endorsement in February.
McGowan says over the next five months he’ll be listening intently to voters in the district.
Dave Dawson of Lawton won the three-way Democratic Primary with about 39% of the vote.
Dawson says he’s the only candidate running in the race who has held town hall forums in all 36 counties in the district, where Republicans hold a sizable voter-registration edge.
Dawson says economic concerns are paramount.
McGowan says he’ll debate Dawson, if invited to do so, before the General Election.
There has not been a debate between major-party candidates in the Fourth District since 2020, when Republican Randy Feenstra debated challenger J.D. Scholten.
