Independent Candidate Launches Campaitn For Iowa House District 4

Northwest Iowa (Sioux County Radio) — Garth Van Donselaar has launched an independent campaign for Iowa House District 4 in the upcoming November election. District 4 covers all of Lyon County and the northern portion of Sioux County.

Van Donselaar grew up in Sioux Center and attended Dordt University, where he says some of his favorite memories were spending time with friends at the Dordt Grille. He currently works as the Systems Administrator for AmBank Company Inc., the holding company for American State Bank, Perspective Insurance, and American State Bank Investment and Trust.

Van Donselaar describes why he decided to run for Iowa House District 4, the seat currently held by Republican Representative Skyler Wheeler.

Policies

If elected, Van Donselaar says he hopes to open up the political sphere and enact policies, which includes:

  • Eliminating can redemption
  • Ending daylight saving time in Iowa
  • Protecting libraries and freedom of speech
  • Keeping and protecting Iowa’s ESA system
  • Protect Iowa farmland from out-of-state buyers
