Sioux Center, Iowa (Sioux County Radio) — A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for Wednesday morning at the Sioux County Ag Expo grounds near Sioux Center, highlighting the Ag Discovery Barn and continued development at the growing campus.

The event is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the Ag Expo grounds, located at 3028 360th Street — the Sioux County Fairgrounds on the former Sioux Center Airport property.

The Ag Discovery Barn was developed through a partnership between the Sioux County Ag Expo and Farmers Co-op Society, with a focus on agricultural education and community engagement.

Sioux County Supervisor and Farmers Co-op Society board member Craig Hoftyzer said the project is designed to help younger generations better understand agriculture and its role in northwest Iowa.

Hoftyzer says organizers hope the Ag Expo grounds continue to grow into a regional showcase for agriculture and youth programming.

The Ag Discovery Barn was the first newly-constructed building completed at the Ag Expo site, which continues to see additional development, including livestock facilities and the Peoples Bank Pavilion.

The Sioux County Ag Expo campus is located on the site of the former Sioux Center airport and serves as the home of the Sioux County Youth Fair and other year-round events and activities.
