Rock Valley Man Pleads Guilty to Illegally Re‑Entering the US

Sioux City, Iowa (KUOO) — A man who illegally re-entered the United States from Guatemala has pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Sioux City.

Prosecutors say 63-year-old Rigoberto Hernandez-Corado of Rock Valley had previously been removed from the U.S. on August 3rd, 2018. He was later convicted in Sioux County in 2024 of domestic abuse assault, first offense, with a dangerous weapon.

Hernandez-Corado was found in the Sioux County Jail on January 13th, 2026, where he was being held on a probation violation tied to the 2024 sentence. Officials determined Hernandez-Corado was a citizen of Guatamela.

He remains in federal custody while awaiting sentencing.
