Sibley, Iowa — A semi-tractor was destroyed in a fire on Thursday, June 18, 2026, near Sibley.

According to Sibley Fire Assistant Chief Dan Bechler, at about 5:10 a.m., the Sibley Fire Department was called to the report of a semi on fire south of Kwikstar on Highway 60.

When they got there, the assistant chief says the fire department saw the undercarriage of the tractor was fully involved in flames. He says they used water and foam to fight the fire.

Assistant Chief Bechler says no injuries were reported to people, pets, or livestock.

He says the cause of the fire is undetermined, but it may have been a tire issue.

Assistant Chief Bechler reports that the semi-tractor was totaled in the blaze, but the trailer, which was a grain trailer, didn’t appear to have been damaged.

He says the firefighters who responded were on the scene for about 20 minutes.
