Boys State Soccer continued Thursday with the semifinal round, while girls teams compete in state-qualifying matches.
Due to forecasted severe weather in central Iowa, the IHSAA moved up all Class 1A and Class 2A semifinal times by two hours at Mediacom Stadium but it wasn’t enough to avoid a postponement to the last 2A Semifinal.
There was also a full slate of softball and baseball, including our baseball broadcast on KIWA AM 1550/FM 100.7. Sheldon hosted Central Lyon. The game was streamed at kiwaradio.com.
Boys State Soccer
Class 1A Semifinals — Mediacom Stadium
- 10 a.m. — #1 Regina Catholic 1, #4 West Central Valley 0 (2 OT, 5-4 PK)
- 12:30 a.m. –#3 St. Albert 3, #2 West Sioux 2
Winners qualify for the Class 1A State Championship, which begins Friday at 5 p.m. at Mediacom Stadium in Des Moines.

- 5:30 p.m. — #2 Unity Christian vs. #3 Des Moines Christian (Due to weather — postponed to Friday at 9 a.m. The 2A Championship will now be decided on Saturday at 10 a.m.)
Winners qualify for the Class 2A State Championship, which begins Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Mediacom Stadium in Des Moines.
