Eagan, Minnesota (RI) — The Minnesota Vikings will return to the practice field this week with a three-day mandatory minicamp beginning today at team headquarters in Eagan.
The Vikes just completed back-to-back weeks of voluntary organized team activities, breaking in new players and watching a two-man quarterback battle brew. Incumbent JJ McCarthy is competing against free-agent acquisition Kyler Murray to be the top signal-caller.
Elsewhere, Minnesota linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel says they are all trying to do their part to help fill the shoes of departing linebacker Jonathan Greenard. The former Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley Nighthawk says third-year player Dallas Turner is making great strides in taking over that position.
Van Ginkel says this is a key time of year to learn new things and improve as a team.
Van Ginkel says they are looking to fill the shoes of Jonathan Greenard, who was traded to the Eagles.
Van Ginkel says Dallas Turner will help fill the void left by Greenard’s departure because of Turner’s continued progress.
While there has been a great deal of speculation among the fan base and the players, Van Ginkel says he isn’t sure if safety Harrison Smith will return.
