Cherokee Man Injured When Semi Trailer Strikes Building In Hospers

Hospers, Iowa — Shortly before midnight Friday night, Sioux County authorities were called to investigate a commercial motor vehicle accident at Premium Iowa Pork in Hospers.

According to authorities, 27-year-old Amir Salah, of San Francisco, California, was driving a 2015 Volvo semi-tractor pulling a freight trailer on a driveway of Premium Iowa Pork. As Salah entered onto Main Street, deputies say the trailer struck a small building at the entrance of Premium Iowa Pork. An employee of the facility, 52-year-old Donald Connor, of Cherokee,  was in the building at the time.

According to authorities, Connor was transported by the Hospers Ambulance to Orange City Area Health System for treatment of minor injuries.

The semi-trailer sustained approximately $1,000 in damage. Damage to the building was estimated at $5,000.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s office was assisted by the Hospers Ambulance.
