Rock Valley, Iowa– A Hudson, SD woman was taken to the hospital after an accident in Rock Valley on Friday, December 8, 2023.
The Rock Valley Police Department reports that at about 12:15 p.m., 21-year-old Tonya Koenen of Hawarden was driving a 2018 Mini Cooper eastbound on Highway 18, in Rock Valley. They tell us that 49-year-old Jennifer Schuller of Hudson, SD was southbound on 10th Avenue in a 2021 GMC SUV.
The report says that Koenen ran a red light and collided with the Schuller SUV, which had a green light. The officer says the collision was captured by surveillance video.
The Rock Valley Ambulance took Schuller to Hegg Health Center Avera Hospital.
Koenen’s Mini Cooper sustained $14,000 in damages, and Schuller’s GMC SUV sustained $4,000 in damages.
Koenen was charged with failure to respond to steady red light.
