Primghar, IA — A Primghar man hit a power pole and left the scene of the accident near Primghar on Sunday, June 14th.
The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office reports, that at about 4:00 pm on Sunday, 18-year-old Jared Roos of Primghar was driving southbound on Taft Avenue in a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer. According to the report, Roos over corrected for a raccoon in the roadway, entered the west ditch and completely took out a utility power pole and part of a corn field. Roos then contacted a friend to be pulled out of the ditch after being unsuccessful attempts to drive out himself. The Trailblazer was pulled out, and left in the middle of the unpaved highway on 400th Street.
Roos neglected to contact law enforcement for a property damage accident and on Monday, June 15th, Roos called law enforcement to inquire where his vehicle had been towed to. The Chevy was towed to a secure facility.
The Trailblazer received $6000 damage. The REC Utility Pole received $500 damage; the corn field received $50 damage.
No injuries were reported.
