Larchwood, Iowa — Lyon County officials are saying that a medical issue caused a crash in Larchwood Tuesday morning.
According to information released by the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, shortly before 9:00 am Tuesday, 76-year old Gerald Kluger was driving a 2005 Ford van east on Fell Street, when a medical condition caused him to strike a trailer that was parked at a business, and then strike a legally parked 2008 Dodge Ram pickup, owned by Cutting Edge Manufacturing, LLC.
Deputies estimate the damage to Kluger’s van at about $5-thousand. Damage to the Dodge Ram pickup was estimated at about $10-thousand, with the business and the trailer each receiving about $2-hundred in damage.
Authorities report that Kluger was transported to the hospital by Lyon County Ambulance. Assisting the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office at the scene were Larchwood EMS, and Larchwood Fire Department.
