Milford Woman, Sheldon Man Arrested On Felony Drug Charges

Sheldon, Iowa — Two people have been arrested on felony drug charges after a search warrant was executed in Sheldon.

According to the Sheldon Police Department, on Monday, November 20, 2023, at approximately 3:30 p.m., officers served a search warrant on a residence on the 1000 block of 11th Street. They tell us the search warrant service led to the arrest of two individuals.

According to court records, 43-year-old Donna Hinds of Milford and 62-year-old David Kamies of Sheldon are accused of drug possession.

The Sheldon Police tell us Hinds was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance 3rd offense and gathering where controlled substances are used, both class D felonies. If convicted, she could face up to five years in prison on each charge. She also faces a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia, and was also arrested on an outstanding warrant from Clay County.

Both face a preliminary hearing on Monday, December 11th.

They were booked into the O’Brien County Jail in Primghar on Monday, November 20th. Jail officials tell us Kamies was released on a $5000 bond. At last report, Hinds remained in jail, also on a $5,000 bond.

Unemployment rate drops in April

The April unemployment rate dropped to two-point-eight percent compared to two-point-nine percent in March. Iowa Workforce Development director, Beth Townsend, says
