Rock Valley, Iowa — A payloader was destroyed in a fire on Thanksgiving Thursday, November 23, 2023, near Rock Valley.
According to Rock Valley Fire Chief Brent Eshuis, at about 3:20 p.m., the Rock Valley Fire Department was called to the report of a payloader fire at Meadowvale Dairy, seven miles west of Rock Valley and a mile north or three miles east of Fairview, South Dakota and a mile south.
The chief says the fire department saw a payloader on fire as they approached the scene. He says they used water and foam to fight the fire.
Eshuis says no injuries were reported.
He says the cause of the fire is undetermined but started in the payloader’s engine compartment.
Chief Eshuis reports that the payloader was totaled in the blaze.
He says the firefighters who responded were on the scene for about 20 minutes.
