Alton, Iowa — A Texas man was taken to the hospital after a crash on Highway 60 near Alton on Wednesday, October 11, 2023.
According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, at about 4:55 p.m., 52-year-old Bruce Korver of Alton was driving a 1985 Case IH 2394 farm tractor pulling two Demco grain wagons loaded with corn southbound on Highway 60. They tell us that 65-year-old Russell Green of Pasadena, Texas, was driving a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 pickup southbound on Highway 60 behind Korver, when he struck the rear wagon.
The Alton Ambulance Squad took Green to Orange City Area Health System. His injuries were described as “minor.” Korver did not report injuries.
The grain wagons sustained approximately $20,000 in damage. The pickup sustained approximately $65,000 in damage. And corn was all over the southbound lanes of the highway.
Green was cited on a charge of following too closely.
The Sheriff’s Office says the Orange City Police Department, Alton Fire Department, Alton Ambulance Squad and the Orange City Fire Department assisted with the response to the accident.
