Sibley Man Arrested On Warrant, Charged With Felony Assault In Sheldon

Sheldon, Iowa — A Sibley man has been arrested on a felony assault charge after an incident in Sheldon.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the O’Brien County Clerk of Court’s Office by the Sheldon Police Department, 39-year-old Levi Dimmitt of Sibley is accused of domestic assault back in March. He was arrested on a warrant on Tuesday.

In his statement, the officer says Dimmitt was at the victim’s house and allegedly committed domestic assault and bodily harm. He’s accused of attempting to strangle the victim.

Dimmitt was charged with domestic abuse assault-impeding air or blood flow, a class D felony. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of domestic abuse assault, causing injury or mental illness in connection with the incident.

He was cited in for July 7th.

He was booked into the O’Brien County Jail in Primghar, and was released the next day after posting bond.
