Hull, Iowa — Three people were transported to the hospital following a two-vehicle collision that occurred one-half mile west of Rock Valley on Highway 18,early Monday evening.
According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, 52-year-old Shane Wissink, of Rock Valley, was westbound on Highway 18 in a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica, when he slowed for oncoming traffic before attempting a left turn into a residential driveway and was rear-ended by a 2005 GMC Sierra pickup, driven by 25-year-old Braden Van Veldhuizen, of Inwood, which was also westbound on Highway 18, behind Wissink’s Pacifica.
Both drivers and a passenger in the Chrysler were all transported by the Rock Valley Ambulance to Hegg Health Center in Rock Valley for treatment of their injuries.
The Chrysler sustained approximately $10,000 in damage. The GMC sustained an estimated $8,000 in damage, according to authorities.
Van Veldhuizen was cited for following too close and failure to use seat belt.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Rock Valley Police Department, Rock Valley Fire Department, Rock Valley Ambulance, and the Iowa State Patrol.
